SMS consent

SMS consent language for claim-related text updates

Example consent and attestation language for claim-related transactional SMS — not marketing texts. Customize for your workflow and legal obligations.

For public adjusters and small claim teams using text updates when messaging is configured.

Why text-message consent matters

  • Claim-related texts are transactional updates about an active file — not promotional campaigns.
  • Consent should be documented before the first outbound SMS from your workflow.
  • Portal notification preferences can supplement, not replace, your compliance process when applicable.

Transactional vs marketing messages

  • Transactional: task reminders, status updates, portal links (URL only), inspection scheduling.
  • Marketing: promotions, newsletters, or unrelated offers — not supported as claim SMS in XactaClaim workflows.
  • When in doubt, treat messages as transactional only if tied to an active claim action.

What not to send by SMS

  • Portal PINs, phone access codes, or other credentials.
  • Sensitive personal data that belongs in secure channels.
  • Coverage determinations or legal advice.
